We are pleased to announce that Harry & Bobbie Irvine are the Assistant District Directors for the South Eastern Section.  They are from the Marietta Chapter and will be an asset to the state.

Also Chapter E3 was presented the Quarterly Newsletter award for the best Newsletter published in the South East Section for the 2nd quarter of 2004. We are very proud our our little chapter and what we can accomplish.  Gary Miller presented the award to us at Chapter J2's fundraiser in Coolville.  This is the second award we have received for our newsletter for 2004.  We appreciate all the work that Vickie and Short Russell and Paul Darnell have done.

It was wonderful to see Sharon Hart at this fundraiser.  She has been battling cancer for quite some time.  All the money raised at this years fundraiser was donated to her to help with medical bills.  This is a great gesture on J2's part.

Kenny and Carmelita Osborne was also were also at J2's fundraiser and it was great to see them again.  Harry and Bobbie got a peek at what they have to work with in this section, of course everyone was in their best behavior (ha, ha!).

On Chapter E3s September 25th ride to the Cracker Barrel Restaurant at Mineral Wells WV.  We had 5 bikes on the ride.  We also want to welcome Bob and Sharon Kincaid as our new Gold Wing friends and latest members of Chapter E3.  Bob and Sharon went along with us for our Cracker Barrel Dinner ride, and quickly found out that we usually take the scenic route.

We are planning an unscheduled overnight ride October 16th and 17th to the mountains of West Virginia to enjoy the fall leaves.  If you are interested in going along we would love to have you, just call Ron or Paul and let us know.  We will be leaving McDonalds in Pomeroy at about 10.30 AM on Saturday.  We hope to see you there, but dress warm cause it looks like it will be pretty cool.

One secret: close the gap between your jacket and helmet with an inexpensive fleece neck warmer. It deflects bugs and rocks, blocks that cold draft in spring and fall, and can help reduce sweat evaporation (and possible dehydration) on hot summer days. They are cheap, come in colors to match your gear, and available wherever outdoor equipment is sold.

Also a recent notice from a major corporation recommended to their employee not to use their cell phones while fueling their vehicles.  Evidence indicates that they can cause ignition of the gas vapors.  So be careful not to use your cell phone while fueling your car or Wing.

Happy Halloween to everyone.  Hard to believe it's October already.  At least so far in this month the weather is cooperating a lot better than last month.  We don't need anymore flooding.  But there is still a lot of nice days left so get out and ride whenever you can.

With cold weather just around the corner it's time to make sure you have your wing ready for it's long winter sleep.  It is a very good idea to make the trek to Wal-Mart or K-mart and pick-up a battery maintainer to keep your battery up to snuff.  Just make sure you purchase a maintainer and not a trickle charger.  The maintainer will cycle on and off to hold a charge on the battery, but a trickle charger provides a continual low amperage charge on the battery, this could lead to causing the battery to boil dry.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Gary and Carolyn Miller for the great job they have done as our assistant directors, and Tom and Sandy Taggart as our state directors and to let them know that we realize just what a sacrifice that they made for GWRRA.  We all know that in their positions they had to devote a tremendous amount of time to the organization and we truly appreciate it.  We also want to congratulate them on moving up to district positions, we know they will continue their dedication in their new jobs and will continue to make us proud.
