Cabin Fever has come and gone. It
was a great time as always. Attendance this year was 632, which
set a record. We had two new couples go with us this year, Ike &
Judy Spencer and Bob & Shari Kincade. Both couples have been
initiated, and we all had a good time supporting them through the
ordeal. There were 88 GWRRA members that went through “Oogy
Boogey”, 120 went through “In The Barn” and 99 members got
“Measured”. The theme for
next years Cabin Fever is Hawaiian Luau , anyone that would like
to create a logo for the event we need to have them to turn in at
the April 2nd Officers Meeting. If you are interested let us know.
At our February meeting, it was
agreed by all our members to donate all of the meeting proceeds to
Gary Hart, who lost is wife Sharon to a courageous battle with
cancer. Gary & Sharon have been long time members of GWRRA and
were past Chapter Directors of Chapter J2 at Coolville. We
collected $100.00 to give Gary to help with his necessary
expenses. Buckeye Rally is
June 17th, 18th, and 19th. Please let us know if you plan to
attend this year’s rally. The rally will be in Ashland Ohio this
year and there are several nice Hotels available. Paul has already
made reservations at the Amerihost Inn and said he would be glad
to make reservation for anyone else that would like to stay there.
Just let him know for sure you plan on attending and he will take
care of it.

Safety Topic
|
| Women riders: pantyhose are
sometimes worn as a thin-lightweight added layer. However, in the
event of a fall, the friction and resulting heat caused by
sliding, can cause the nylon pantyhose material to melt. When this
happens, it seems to prefer to fuse to the skin, rather than the
material from your outer layers. Getting this melted nylon out of
skin is not a pleasant experience. |

Our Saturday night Dinner Ride and
Bowling night on February 26th was a great success. We ate at the
new Golden Coral in Parkersburg WV and I think everyone had a good
meal. We missed Linda and Paul Darnell who couldn’t make it
following Linda’s surgery. She is getting along OK and we wish her
a quick recovery. After dinner we all rode over to Emerson (im er
some) lanes for a great evening of fun. All the members and their
Kids and Grand kids had a great time. We had a total of 24 people
attending. Our Saturday
evening dinner ride on March 5th went to the Cools Spot in
Coolville Ohio. Nancy and I, Paul and Linda Darnell, Al and Kay
Graham and Roger and Sharon Black attended and we were happy to
have John and Percilla Shuler and Wilbur Ward and Trina Barrett
join us for the evening. As usual we ended up at McDonalds
afterward for an evening of talk and ice cream, not necessarily in
that order. Our next dinner
ride is scheduled for March 19th and we are planning to ride to
Larobies Pizza in Gallipolis Ohio. Can you tell who plans the
dinner rides, it has to be someone who likes pizza (Paul). We will
be meeting at McDonalds in Pomeroy at 5:30 PM.
The Safety Sunday on March 27th at
Gallipolis was very interesting both for rider and co-rider. It
was a day that was very knowledgeable plus the women learned how
to pack the bikes.

Tech Tip
|
Recently while repairing a Silver Wing in the garage I had
just reinstalled the rear tire and the tire valve failed. The
valve had rotted where it comes through the wheel. I replaced the
valve and checked the front tire valve and sure enough it was
rotten as well.
|
Check those
tire valve before you roll your bike out for the spring. |
This months tech tip is a simple one, be sure to take a few
minutes before you roll the bike out for the spring riding season
to check those tire valves. These valves can cause a blow out that
could cause an accident.
Don’t forget that we will be having a safety checkup at Ronnie
Russell's garage April 17th. It will be a good opportunity to get
your bike ready for the spring riding season.

Well
we had a great turn out for Cabin Fever and everyone had a good
time. It was the best one I have attended so far. There was plenty
to do and we all had a lot of fun.
I am really looking forward to the
Tennessee Rally, Linda and I had a great time last year and we
can’t wait to go back. It looks like we will be meeting at Bob
Evans In Gallipolis around 10:00 AM on Thursday April 21st. Anyone
wanting to attend this event needs to make their room reservation
as soon as possible, we will be staying at the Park Tower hotel
again this year. It is a nice hotel and is right across from the
rally.
I know that everyone is wanting
winter over with as soon as possible. It will be nice to finally
get a few nice days where we can get out of the house and maybe
even take a spin on the Gold Wing.
I want to remind everyone that
they are invited to attend the Gold Wings and Ribs Festival
Planning meetings each month. We need every ones input to make the
event the best we can. This months meeting will be held on March
28th at 7:00 PM at the Chamber Office in Pomeroy. Please not that
this is different than the date on the monthly calendar. The
calendar shows the meeting on March 21st, but the correct date is
March 28th, please try to attend if you can.

Upcoming Events and
Rides...

Chapter E3
gathering is the 4th Friday of each month at McClures
Restaurant in Pomeroy, Ohio at 7:00 PM |
Our Dinner rides are going great,
I am really glad to see such a good turnout for each ride. I know
it is hard for everyone to make each ride but we have been having
some good attendance at our rides.
Our next Dinner ride is at
Larobies Pizza, I really don’t like pizza but I’ll force myself to
be there. Chapter C2 will be having their Chili Dump at Kyger
Creek that same evening, so we will probably swing by and crash
their party on the way home.
Before you know it Spring Fling will be here. It will be April
22nd - 24th in Pigeon Forge, TN. This is always the kick-off to
the rally season and it’s in one of the prettiest areas of the
country. Keep this one on your calendar, it is the true sign that
spring has sprung.
