At the February 27th meeting there were 33 members present including members from Chapter C2 and Cliff and Carol Hitt the West Virginia GWRRA State Treasurers.  Ronnie made sure that he started this months meeting on time since our ADD's Gary & Carolyn Miller were visiting again this month.  Ronnie and Nancy presented our couple of the year Vickie & Short Russell with Couple of the Year pins & hangers.

Gary Miller presented Al & Kay Graham a plaque for their service as Senior Chapter Directors.  Congratulations Al & Kay and thanks for all the hard work.

Donna Green (Dave Karr's younger & prettier sister) attended our meeting and presented us two short stories.  Donna is a story teller and she wanted to give us a demonstration of her talents.  We will be contacting her to perform at this years Gold Wings and Ribs Festival.  Everyone really enjoyed her stories!  Thanks Donna.

Ronnie thanked everyone for all the hard work putting the Cabin Fever parade and talent show together.  It was a lot of fun and a job well done.  We all enjoyed the get-togethers while planning and preparing for this, even though we didn't win.  We had fun anyway and that is what it's all about.

At this years Cabin Fever there were 533 pre-registered and a total 553 members in attendance.  Our own Kay Graham won third place in the rolling 20's game.  Also Kay's talented husband Al got to go on stage and sing.  Look out Elvis, you've got competition.  Next years theme is the 50's & 60's.  Chapter C2's Linda Lear received the Newsletter of the Year award.  Way to go Linda for a job well done.

Our first dinner ride on January 24th to Fat Boyz Pizza in Gallipolis was a success with 8 members in attendance.  We want to thank all of E3's members that were able to attend C2's regular meeting February 20th and Valentine dinner February 21st.

The Valentine dinner was held at the Down Under restaurant in Gallipolis.  There were eight members attending the Valentines dinner from E3.  We all had a great time and want to thank C2 for inviting us to attend.  Dick & Bev Fetty were named C2's Couple of the Year and it was the first time we ever saw Dick speechless, and Bev cried.  We also got to witness Jodi Knotts giving Roger Black a thrill.  Our Couple of the Year Vickie & Short received a beautiful Bud(wiser) vase with a rose, it was a touching moment.

Thanks

E3 Chapter Directors

As I write this, Ronnie and Nancy are at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.  Ronnie's Mother Alice Russell was life flighted there last Sunday Morning.  She has had a rough time and is doing better now.  Ronnie's Father, Bob Russell has also been in Holzer Hospital and is home now recovering from surgery.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Ronnie and Nancy during this time.

I just wanted to take a second to thank everyone for making our dinner rides such a success.  When we started talking about trying this I didn't know how well everyone would like it.  It is great to get together with everyone and have a good time.  I am pleased that everyone has had such a good time on our dinner rides.  And I know once the weather breaks and we can get on our bikes, it will even be better.

I also want to thank everyone for there help and support with this years Gold Wings and Ribs Festival.  Without your help and support it wouldn't be possible.

Thanks
Paul & Linda Darnell

Imagine the area around your motorcycle divided into slices like the hours of a clock. 12:00 is directly in front of you, 6:00 is to the rear, 3:00 is to the right and 9:00 is to the left.

According to the Hurt Study:

5.1 percent of all motorcycle crashes occur in the 5:00-7:00 range (rear-end accidents).
10.4 percent occur in the 8:00 to 10:00 range (from the left).
7.2 percent occur in the 2:00 to 4:00 range (from the right).
77.1 percent of all motorcycle crashes occur in the 11:00 to 1:00 range (directly in front of you).

So: while riders must be aware of hazards coming from all directions, the vast majority come from directly in front of you. Hazards from the rear are important, but overrated.

Ron's Tech Tip is on the use of carburetor cleaner on you fuel system.  You could cause severe carburetor damage because carburetor cleaner can damage the accelerator pump diaphragms in the carburetors.  These little diaphragms are about $110.00 each and another $250.00 to install them.

If you notice poor fuel economy, first check your air cleaner and then look at the vacuum hoses that fasten to the intake manifolds.  Check the hoses for cracks dry rotting and leaks.

Make sure you use a good quality gas, you may just need to switch where you are getting your gas.
